The vampire was beautiful and seductive. Even better, he was submissive. A triple threat! Already Doc was aroused to a fever pitch. He couldn’t seem to help himself. He wondered if vampire allure had anything to do with his boner. As much as he’d told himself to keep a clear head, it had all gone to hell. Once he’d shifted, a weird mix of pent-up anger, frustration and out-of-control hormones made him want to jump the vampire’s bones. And he had. Literally. He should have exercised more control. Stretched out on top of the vampire’s sexy body, all the blood left his brain and went straight to his cock.

It wasn’t just scent or Damian’s lean, muscular physique that turned Doc on. Scar or no scar, the vampire’s face was just as intriguing. Doc couldn’t understand it, but for some reason Damian appeared embarrassed by his scar. He wore his hair longer than the others and his habit of tilting his head to hide his face was endearing but unnecessary. The vampire had no reason to be self-conscious about his appearance. The rest of his skin was smooth and pale as marble. His dark-green eyes and pouty lips added to the pretty picture, and the scar gave the shy submissive a rakish look that made Doc’s balls ache.

Doc wanted to grab him by the shoulders and shake some sense into him. Tell him he didn’t need to hide behind his hair. Looks didn’t make a man, they were only window dressing. In this case Doc liked the dressing just fine, but right now he was even more interested in what was inside. Damian appeared to have a good heart—for a vampire. Time would tell.

For now, Doc bit his tongue and held back on the Dr. Phil lecture. Vampire angst was not his specialty, and Damian wouldn’t be interested in hearing what a wolf thought anyway.

We’re just savages to the kindred, no better than any creature that roamed the woodlands.

Let the vamp do the talking. Until he knew exactly why Damian wanted to help him, he’d be a man of few words.

Damian sucked in a breath. “I…” he began.

The stammering interrupted Doc’s thoughts. “I’m listening.”

“I’m Damian.”

“I know your name.”

“Then I’m at a disadvantage.” The faint smile held a touch of sadness.

Damn, the bloodsucker had a way of getting under his fur. “They call me Doc.”

“Good enough.”

“When can I see my people?”

Damian’s smile faded. “I imagine they want to see you, too. I know Abbi does. She’s our doctor.”

“I’m a doctor.”

“I know. Abbi thinks you might be able to—”

“So you said. Get to the point. What do I have to do to get out of here?”

“It’s simple really. Just let me drink your blood.”

Simple? For a minute Doc was rendered speechless. He shook his head and recovered himself with an effort. “You wanna repeat that?”

Damian looked nervous as a cat. His body trembled, but he looked Doc straight in the eye as he explained. “Ethan intends to take your blood one way or another.
